What does it take to get a union startred for LPN's in the south? I have heard for years that if a LPN tries or talks union they loose their job and then end up at the Board of Nursing on false charges.

Re: LPN Union

I would contact AFSCME.org. I think SEIU represents some LPN's. Best of luck! In solidarity...

Re: LPN Union

Don't use a company phone or computer for anything related to your quest for information on unions.

Having said that, nearly every nurse I know is a union member (only family doctors and some clinics up here are non-union).

Try a public service union. Hell, I belong to the same union as prison guards and social workers. You'd be surprized who might be interested.

Re: LPN Union

Here in Ontario, most places are unionized including most LTC homes and retirement homes. As noted above the union may include any type of worker. Unions are just a fact of life here.

Re: LPN Union

Thanks for all the replies, I would like to get involved with a union, but first there has to be one. Here in the south ( Alabama) there are none for LPN's. Guess I will start by doing a little research on the subject. If anyone has helpful suggestions please share.
