LPN's with a four year degree in another field get paid more than regular LPN's.

Hello:

Do LPN's with a degree in another field get paid more than a LPN with out a degree? I would like to know do the employer pay you for your BA degree.

I heard that BSN's get paid more than ASN's at some hospitals around Louisiana. The BSN's at state hospitals are getting 3.00-5.00 more than the ASN's. Someone told me sometimes 10.00 more depends on the department.

So is that true?

I think I had only one job that paid me more for additional education. Now I dont have a 4 year degree in anything yet but I guess it could be possible. I dont know about the $10/hr more for BSN education vs the ADN education. I have read most of the post concerning this issue and it seems it is more along the lines of 0.50 cents to 1 dollar more a hour. But, I guess it depends on your job and what part of the good ole US you live in.

LPNs normally do not get paid more for the extra degree.

I have a BA in Germanic Languages and Literature, and went back to get my LPN. I *do not* receive extra pay because of my BA. And FWIW, my BA really doesn't help me much in my LPN duties. BSNs get paid more than ADNs because they have more nursing classes. I *do* get paid more as an LPN because I am IV certified.

My friend is an LPN who also has a BS degree in public health, and she does not receive more pay for her additional educational attainment. I do not even have a college degree yet, and I happen to earn $0.50 more per hour than she does.

LPN's don't get paid anymore money for having a degree, i have a BA from wellesley ( got it when i was young and smart ) lol .. i was a LPN after that for 21 years then i went on for my RN . the only raise i recieved was LPN to RN. i wish you luck in your schooling. being a nurse is very rewarding. i love it.

Hey Commuter, where does one get IV therapy certified? Our instructors yesterday told us that we won't be learning venipuncture(which I already know) or IV therapy. Lend me your knowledge!

My current workplace paid for my IV certification. I attended a 2-day IV therapy class that was being conducted by American Pharmaceutical Services, which is the pharmacy that delivers meds to the facility where I am employed. About 30 other LVNs were attending the same IV therapy class that I had attended. We were all sponsored by our employers, because the class is expensive.
