Can any one tell me if the credits which I earn on this program are transferable to any RN program in NYC?

If you go to a college to get your RN none of your credits will be transfered.

If you go to a nursing school to get your ADN (Hopfer or Helene Fuld) after one year of working experience you will receive credit and you should be able to finish the transition program in 1 year.

I know that Cochran gives LPNs one semester of credit for being an LPN but you still have to take all of the pre-reqs (micro, a&pI and II etc).

Have you asked any advisor at this school whether their credits are transferrable? In my honest opinion, that would have been the best thing to do in order to get your question answered. Good luck to you!

As Falon stated, they would probably not be transfered. The Department of Health's LPN program is likened to a vocational school, where it is more skill oriented to give the LPN the knowledge that she/he needs to function in that title. Most vocational schools I know of do not have transferable credits. I have heard that some of their students transfered to Helene Fuld for their RN program, but I think that they would still want you to take their courses in Anatomy, Micro, Chemistry and such. You would be quite familiar with Anatomy, however, it will be presented on a deeper, more detailed in content because it would be on a college level.

I mean, ANY job to start a career in this field.

Does anyone know where I can find NCLEX results online??? I took it yesterday and I want to know asap if I passed or not...... Any help would be appreciated....

I live in IN and I looked on the what was essentially the State Board of Nursing website, checked my name, and found I had a license number. If you can search your states' website for it, I'd start there and see if you can find your name. Good luck!!!!

I sent out my resume before I took my boards and I got 4 callbacks. The thing is that most facilities will not hire GPNs you gotta get your license first. Once I could prove that I passed boards it took 2 days to secure a position. Some LPNs have experienced differently but I think that a really good resume and cover letter helps a lot.

Also don't expect to have an easy time getting a hospital job because most NYC hospitals do not hire LPNs. The ones that do can be very picky about who they will hire and are less likely to hire new grads. For the most part the LPNs that I know of who work in the hospital were PCTs at that hospital prior to going to school, LPNs with many years experience, or they have been at the hospital from way back since when they used to have a lot of LPNs.
