Beth Israel School of Nursing; their continuing education courses in New York City. They also have on line courses in some things that I am interested in. In my opinion, very much worth the money and time. I plan to take some of their on line courses in the summer.

Re: Certification

One thing I can say about you, mdobson...you are surely showing dedication to nursing already. I really wish you well in your courses, and feel free to ask me any questions (at least the ones I remember...LOL).

Re: Certification

Mike, I became IV certified 12 years ago right out of LPN school. I got the certification at the hospital I was working at at the time. And believe me, it comes in quite handy. It's hard enough to have to go find someone else to spike a bag of blood or do an IV push for me, if I had to find someone else to start my IV's or hang my piggybacks I would be more of a hinderance than anything.

Hi Jill.

That makes a great deal of sense. However, my lack of knowledge in this area is absolute.

I still have yet to actually step INTO a classroom, however, I am as excited and apprehensive as a schoolgirl before my first kiss!

My main interest is Psych Nursing. Of course, this may completely change once I am introduced to the varied aspects of clinical nursing. (Kind of like changing your major in college, I suppose!)

I realize that there are avenues for "continuing" education available. Are there further aspects of Psych certification that are also available?

The ECG course is a continuting education course and not certification. But, definitely something I advise others to do.
