Ok im at a community college right as a freshman going into the nursing program the fall of 2009... which will be a 2 year program.. so thats another 3 years before i get out college... Now the question is... Do i start the LPN program now which is 1 year and then do the ladder program into an A.A.S. degree which is only a one year program.. which in reality is only 2 more years before i graduate with a degree.. or do i just say forget it all and get my B.S.N since it would take me 4 years which if i stay at the community college by the time i graduate itd take me a full 4 years.... hope its not too confusing

not confusing at all. if you decided to go the lpn ladder route, just remember that there might be some down time due to the fact that you need to study for your nclex and stuff. then theres also prereqs for the rn program that you need to complete if you havent. i think in order to make a decision you need to think about what you really want to do in your nursing career. also, think about your financial situation and if you want nursing experience right away.

even though i love being a lvn, my ultimate goal is to become a midleveler and teach the future nurses so if i had to do it again, i wouldve gone straight bsn. but, i make a good living as an lvn and i gain general nursing experience which is also really valuable. soo the decisions yours.
