i have a pharmacy tech license but have no experience whatsoever
ive had it for 2 years! i did not get a job due to laziness and personal problems....oh boy did i regret it!...now that i have financial issues i am desperately trying to find a job as a pharmacy tech but no luck so far....i am currently working part-time at a call center...and i will be starting school for lvn tomorrow
i was wondering as an lvn, will they pay you more if you have a pharmacy tech license?....and should i keep searching for a tech job while i go to school or stay where i am and just get a job after im done with lvn (its a 14 month program btw =O)...i need advice.

Good luck in school.

As far as I know having a Pharm. Tech degree won't give you more money as an LVN.

If you need the money and can find a part-time pharm. job, I would do that while you're in school, if it pays more than the call center and fits in with your school/study schedule.

Good luck!

HI I'm also a pharmacy tech and it is hard finding a job. I've had my licence since last year and no luck for a job doing it. I've been thing about becoming a CNA and then maybe a med tech.

You probably won't get more money, but, you may have a heads up on medications and dosage calculations in nursing school. Everything helps and nothing is for vain. Knowing a bit of what happens in the pharmacy will help you as a nurse. I had taken courses in phlebotomy, nursing and medical assisting as well as medical billing. All of these classes added a bit of knowledge for me while I was in the LPN program, and have been added to my practice.

Re: licensed pharmacy technician

I hate to be nit picky, but I think pharmacy techs are certified not licensed.

I am 99.9% sure that you will not earn more money as an LVN with a pharm tech certification. Most LVN's who have bachelor or associate degrees do not have a higher pay rate.

I think you should continue to look for a pharm tech job. It will look more attractive to potential employers that you have worked in the medical field. If possible you could get hired by a hospital and carry on working there as a LVN once you graduate. Good Luck!
