Re: Kaiser LVN's... laid-off?

When large employers like Kaiser, lay off a large group of people, that group of people all hit an already saturated job market at the same time and compete for jobs that may or may not be available. That is one of the major reasons why it is a very wise career move for LVNs/LPNs to get that RN license.

The county hospitals in California, most of them stopped hiring LVNs and changed to RNs only.

Luckily, I work in a state that permits LVNs to perform virtually all aspects of IV therapy without any RN intervention or supervision, including IV push, IVPB, PICCs, central lines, midlines, and so forth. It is no coincidence that LVNs are still readily hired by major hospitals in my area.

Re: Kaiser LVN's... laid-off?

Kaiser goes this every few yrs just to rehire them in a few month because there is an RN shortage. I grew up in so bay and heard this all growing up. I live maybe 1/2 mile away from a Kaiser now and tried to get a job there to no avail they wanted more experience.

Harbor General still hires LVN's

Re: Kaiser LVN's... laid-off?

I was talking to Kaiser in Sacramento CA and she said, she had several LVN jobs available and wanted me to come to work right away. I told her I was still only a SN, and she said as soon as I pass the boards to come to her she will defenitely give me a job. Its amazing how everyone says they are phasing out, and where I live there are tons of LVN jobs available. Northern California.

Good Luck,

Re: Kaiser LVN's... laid-off?

Could this hospital be laying off more senior LPN's and replacing them with new grads to save money? I know that sounds awful but it can happen from time to time.
