Is it hard finding a job in the state you live as a LPN/LVN???
Just wanted some feedback. Also once you graduated how long did it take for you to find a job??? Be Honest!!

Believe it or not, I was hired before I took my boards !! I finished school on Sept 21, started work Oct 11, took boards Oct 18, graduated Oct 19 and received word that I had passed on Oct 20, 2004! I worked as a tech and once I passed boards went straight to nursing. Also here in Georgia LPN jobs are not that hard to find. Good luck to you.

Also in Georgia here. It took me 3 months actually(got a PRN job at a LTC facility). It's been harder for some folk though. Hospital jobs are probably the hardest, but I'm still determined to get one. Got an interview at one on friday.

I live in a metropolitan area of 5.7 million people, so the LVN jobs are abundant here. I took boards on December 28 in Texas, but for the California BVNPT. I received my results in the mail on January 9, received my actual California license on January 20, and received my temporary Texas license on February 2. I immediately found a job once I received the temporary Texas license. Most of the hold-up was a result of endorsing my California license into Texas.

Re: Job market LPN

I sent out resume's with cover letters before I had taken my NCLEX and had people calling me. I received all 205 questions and they were nice enough to invite me back to give me another 205 questions and this time it worked.

I sent out numerous letters, with resume's and cover letters, tried the online application thing and got no where. I went to 5 employers, with copies of my resume and they all called me back and wanted me to start. What a difference.

I'm in California, I just got an offer yesterday, $34/hour to start. That's as much as an RN! Unfortunate because I don't graduate until February.

Not to get off the subject, but I recently moved to Houston from California and it is taking a while to have my CA LVN license endorsed here in Texas. How long did it actually take you? I applied the end of Oct. and still haven't received my Texas license, not even a temporary.

Re: Job market LPN

I have been a traveling nurse the past 5 years..here's my thoughts:
I had easy time finding a hospital job that paid well in the Northeast..I was in Delaware and Philadelphia. But be prepared to have a high nurse:PT ratio and earn your money..also lots of communicable diseases. Less RN"itis"apparent..Ever hear the term "warm body"
Washington and Oregon..decent pay..LTC.Rains alot..depression,MVA's and liver stuff
Massachusetts..high cost of licensure and they get away with murder on Nurse:PT ratio..LTC with an inhuman med pass.
South Carolina and Georgia..Hospital work is abundant..but fair to low wages..Lots of HTN, Diabetes and Sickle Cell.
Florida..Clinics,LTC and some hospital..low wages but high cost of living..Diseases and people from all over the world..Trauma?TB? AIDS?Cardiac? Take your pick.
Oklahoma..decent pay with a decent cost of living..hospital work.Texas the same as Oklahoma.
Just my adventures..my thoughts
