girl get out of there. He sounds crazy. IF he doesn't accept two week notice, better for you. YOUr SO and family doesn't need you all stressed out. Better to be somewhere where you know your boss won't throw a chair or desk at YOU! I am sorry but crazy people like that need help with their own anger management problems.
GO! Back to the old job.

Run Run very very fast back to your old job. I wouldn't give notice unless I had to wait a bit to go back to the old position, and then give that time as your notice. How frightening. Good luck to you and let us know what happens.

Re: I HATE my job... what to do, what to do?

Two week notice is customary but that is providing you are working in the job you were offered. If the benifits and job duties are grossly different from what was represented in the initial job offer I don't feel you have any reason to give notice- the job you were offered dosen't seem to be available and the position they have placed you in as an alternative offer isn't one you feel is a good fit. That is exactly what I would tell them in your letter of resignation- "thank you for the opportunity but the job you offered dosen't seem to be available!" If you have a solid offer from your previous employer-take it and run.
