I was offered a fulltime position as a unit secretary today and I accepted. I'm so happy and ready to gain as much experience as I can! Just thought I'd share
I was a Unit sec for about 6 years while I was going to school. I just finished LVN school and I am waiting to get into RN school. I can't tell you how much help being a unit sec has been. I learned so much that nursing school was a breeze. You will learn soooo much. Now as a lvn I think I knew so much more about the patients then some of the nurses becasue you are constantly looking at the charts, getting the new orders and reading the updates.
Congratulations!! You'll do great!
It's going great. I am learning a great deal and everyone is so helpful. I ask the nurses questions about labs or tests being done so that I know whats going on with the patients. I hope that it really helps me when I go to LVN school. Thank you for asking!
Unit secretaries ROCK!!! Our unit secretaries at our hospitals are the backbone. We couldn't make it without them. And I am sure to tell them that at least 4 times a week. You will learn a lot. Good luck.
