Do any of you work in surgery as a scrub?

I currently work on a med/surg unit as a CNA. When I'm unit clerking and I review the chart, sometimes I notice in the OR notes that the role of surg tech/"scrub" is filled by an LVN.

Are there any LVNs/LPNs that work in this role? If so, how'd you go about getting the position? I never see any job openings, so I wonder if you just have to know someone, or if any certain experience is necessary.

As I'm pondering LVN school in the fall, I think it would be awesome to work in surgery. Plus, the base pay for a new grad LVN is 12.75, whereas the base pay for a new grad surgical tech is around 15.00 at the hospital where I work. It's my understanding that the LVNs who work as scrubs get scrub pay.

Re: Do any of you work in surgery as a scrub?

Eh, sorry guys. I know there are a lot of threads along the same lines as mine, but I was just wondering some specifics.

How do you recommend getting a job in surgery as an LVN in the scrub role? Must you also be a CST? I never see any openings for LVNs in Surgery.
