Anyone doing LPN to BSN program through University of Phoenix?

Hello

I've recently learned that University of Phoenix has added a new nursing program which is LPN to BSN degree. Has anyone here heard about it or is going through that program? I would like to hear from someone who is in this program now or has information about this program. Thanks

Thank you. I contacted The University of Phoenix about their nursing program a few months ago ,at that time they only offered the RN to BSN degree. After reading this post, I logged onto their website and they are offering the LPN to BSN degree. It is new and the classes haven't started yet. Log onto their website, click on nursing program, then the LPN to BSN degree. They will ask for your name, address, home and work number, and e-mail address. In a couple of days you will receive an e-mail thanking you for your interest in their program and the name of the representative who will contact you by phone.

The question is: Will this program be accredited by the state BON's? For example, California just went through this with Excelsior, where that program didn't meet the state's requirements. I doubt UoP can do any better ... since the board is pretty tough about clinicals and a bunch of other requirements that would make it tough for any online/distance learning program to meet.

Wow - that is great. I thought that Excelsior (correct me if I'm wrong) is not a school per se, but rather a series of competency exams - therefore there is no teaching. University of Phoenix is actually a school. I did the ADN to BSN and BSN to MSN program through them and for those programs they are fully accredited. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Well your right to say it is not a school but if you live in another state other than Arizona then you will have to do clinicals as a part of your daily work(ie if you work in a hospital then you should be able to get what you need there)those were the exact words from the guy who I spoke to.I think the problem is that none of these people are nurses...or know the protocol....they just follow a message board that tells them how to answer your questions.Same thing happened with the college network.Everybody at that company gave me different stories.I had to think to my self...do I really have time for this.

But you should contact your board of nursing to find out if it is exceptable.Best way to find out pretty quick about accredited schools is to go to the NLAC website and look up schools(Excelsior is there), University of Phoenix withdrew there accreditation so I would STAY CLEAR OF THEM ON THAT NOTE

I do not knoiw of one state that doesn't recognize University of Phoenix.
There are several that do not recognize Excelsior.

But there is also a tremendous difference between the two. U of P requires that the nurse in the already has her/his RN for the bridge program, now they have opened the program to include LPNs, but again they have already been licensed as nurses.
Excelsior's program will admit if the student doesn't already have a nursing degree. There is a big difference that way.

Hope that this helps clear up some misconceptions.
When in doubt, contact your state Board of Nursing.

How did you like UOP's BSN program. They are offering the LPN-BSN here is Colorado. I know for a fact that the school is accreditted and it is recognized in California. the classes are set in classroom not online. and the clinicals are set in Colorado hospitals as well. I have a friend who graducated from UOP in California and later on she got her MSN from UCLA. I am hoping that I can work in California after i get done.

The California RN board lists UoP as an accredited BSN program.
