Lightbulb Any LPNs out there that can't pass the RN exam?

Just curious if there are any LPN's out there (besides me) that are having problems passing the RN exam? I love my job as an LPN, however, I graduated from nursing school (with a 3.9 gpa, I might add) and can't pass the NCLEX. I have severe anxiety over this darn test and was just hoping I could find someone out there who is in my shoes!

I had a friend that experienced this. He did pass the second time, though. He was frustrated, anxious and he stated that he no longer felt he was an LPN (totally understandable!).

Best of luck to you on your next attempt!

Hey there...I remember you.

There are plenty of dedicated, smart, very caring RN's who didn't pass the NCLEX on the first OR second try. You'll get it, I'm sure.

Good to see you here!

BTW, I'll start my first LPN job on May 27th!! I'm so nervous. It's at a nursing and rehab facility in Lake Orion. I'll finish up the RN portion at Mott in September. I'm ready for school to be finished!

Re: Any LPNs out there that can't pass the RN exam?

how did you study for the nclex rn? did you not study hard or use any of the aids- saunders, kaplan, etc? I know that when I took the lpn boards, I did virtually no preparation- I met with a classmate once, went over some questions and that was it. I passed nclex pn w/no problems and I had like a low B average in school. now when I took nclex rn- at that time i was a straight A student, and I studied that Saunders book so hard! I'm glad that I did because that was the worst test of my life. i know that if i did like i did for nclex pn, and hadn't studied for nclex rn, I would have failed.

I found that for the PN test, the Saunders prep materials were the way to go. The questions even seemed very similar in wording. I'll use the same materials for RN test.

Re: Any LPNs out there that can't pass the RN exam?

I have at least 3 friends/classmates who are LPN's that are currently trying after numerous attempts to pass NCLEX-RN. Taking it 4-5 times is not unheard of. I think it is harder being an LPN taking the RN test, because you have to forget about real world nursing and answer questions in the NCLEX world. I never worked a day as a nurse in my life before passing the NCLEX on 1st attempt, but then again I only knew the NCLEX world of nursing.

Best of luck, don't read into the questions too deeply. You certainly are not alone in your frustration!
