My daughter is in a LPN program and I would like to purchase a gift for her. I want to purcase a online progran to help her prepare for the NYCLEX. What is the best prep course online ? Wheb is it best to purcchase it because she graduates in July. I have heard of Kaplan. What do you suggest ? Thank-you.

I am using the Saunders Comprehensive Review book with CD and using the NCSBN Learning extension online review. What ever one you purchase make sure it's the most up to date versions. I get all my books from amazon.com. I take my NCLEX-PN Jan 29th.

I found Saunders to be more helpful while I was in school, but found it to be a bit overwhelming when I was studying for the boards; however, it does have all that you need in there in terms of material and pyramid points that may probably asked by NCLEX. I also used the Learning Extension Review and I began to appreciate it when I just focused on questions alone, because the style of questioning was similar. If you know of anyone that burns CDs, then get as many as you can for her that have millions of questions. I don't think that you need many books to study material (in fact, I would narrow it down to just one comprehensive review book), but you definitely need as many styles of questions as possible.

I also used the Helen Feuer Review CDs. They are extremely entertaining and it was like having access to a lecture 24 hours a day. There are 25-27 CDs that cover everything...med/surg to psych and peds, women's health. They last for about an hour and 10 minutes each, and I listened to one in my portable CD player on my way to work, one for lunch, and another one for home. Then, I would read the material again when I got home from work, and then practice questions that came from what I listened and read. I still remember all of that information from those CDs and when I come across issues I work, I remember the silly jingles that helped me to remember things from them. Wish your daughter good luck for me!
