In January, 1-year-old Joey Cosmillo wandered into the backyard and fell into the family pool. When his mother hauled him out, he wasn't breathing. Rescuers were able to bring him back to life, but he suffered severe brain damage and cannot walk, talk or even swallow.

Now, his family faces another burden: One of the rescuers, Casselberry police Sgt. Andrea Eichhorn, is suing, alleging the family left a puddle of water on the floor that afternoon, causing her to slip and fall.

I can honestly say both sides make me sick. I have a difficult time feeling sorry for any of them. (except the baby, of course)

But personally...I almost think she and her lawyer need their heads adjusted. It just makes me sick.

This is a scary story. My 22 y.o. son was 18 months old when he got out of a locked door off my in-laws' kitchen and out to their pool. My older boy (3 y.o.) and his brother had been playing in the living room with toys and I went to the bathroom and came out and my younger boy was not there. I first searched the house because obviously we kept all the doors to the backyard locked. But I heard a splashing noise, ran to the back door and it was open and I stepped out and saw my son laying on his tummy at the deep end of the pool with his hand in the water, splashing. I ran to grab him and started crying and praying, thanking God. It would only have taken a few more seconds and he might have ended up entirely in the pool, in the deep end.

He has survived other dangerous experiences. He once opened up a locked window and climbed onto our roof using an escape ladder. He was about 2 then. He and his brother climbed up on the roof to retrieve a ball when they were in elementary school. He has been in 4 car accidents - one in our Suburban where a girl was driving and it rolled end over end and side to side, totaling the car but leaving my son and his friend with minor injuries.

I tell him God has special plans for him because he keeps living through these calamities.

Now, the officer and her lawyer should be ashamed of themselves. Good to read that they dropped the suit.

My heart breaks for the parents. And the baby - they should let the poor little guy go.
