We know how to do things - we just hate it.

The original floors are tongue-in-grove maple and were carpeted over. We pulled the carpet up and had the floors refinished. My dh has built a large pantry right off the kitchen. We've painted the house. We've stripped paint from the crown mouldings around the doors because they are made of clear pine.

Our kitchen needs renovated - our bathroom is badly in need of renovation. We need to put up the paint-able wallpaper and paint. I could go on and on . . . .

I feel your pain...Old houses are never ending projects...We have almost completed our renos, my husband is in the trades and knows lots of people. If you need your bathroom done I'll send my hubby...Bathrooms are his specialty! Just feed him and give him beer...

Consider it done!

My greatest wish is that HGTV would come and do a complete makeover . . . . . . .

Me too! Oh the thought makes me all warm and fuzzy. I would love to have a house make-over! Whenever we do really big projects like tear outs and dry wall our friends usually help...I usually cook a feast and we go through lots of beer and wine. We are simple people...food warms our hearts. Appreciation amongst friends is the best. We all help each other out. There are 3 sets of us doing big renos right now. While I am working this weekend my hubby and 2 friends will be getting the walls finished in our den/reading room. Which means I will be painting next week.

Interesting, that was the deal WE made with Steph... feed us and give us beer! I had promised to come by and look over the job the next time I was on the West Coast. You can tell we haven't made it there yet!

Steph, which HGTV show do you want the makeover from? Did you watch the "Dream House" series with the couple from TN? Not the contest giveaway, but the building project.

You know, I guess there isn't a show that would do my whole house.

But let us start with "Curb Appeal". . . . .

No, I didn't watch it - I like the shows where everything is finished in 1/2 hour.

My son and I love "House Hunters".

Re: Tuesday April 24th

I like House Hunters, too. I really like the International version, but I watch any of them that happen to be on when I'm in front of the TV. I always get a chuckle when a young couple with one young child goes to a house that's maybe 2400 or 2500 sf, and the first thing they say is "It's kind of small". Then, all the rooms are "kind of small" and the back yard is "kind of small"... I mean... 2500 square feet!!!

There aren't a lot of design shows I like. It sounds kind of arrogant, but so many of them, especially Decorating Cents and Design on a Dime, make the end result look like a craft project. I like Decorator's Challenge and Divine Design, but those budgets are outrageous.

Re: Tuesday April 24th

I love Devine Design too but who has that kind of money. Another favorite of mine is Debbie Travis. I love all of the stuff she does because it is all completely different than the others. I wish I could have her do a room in my house...I would have her do either my kitchen or my dining room...

I agree Don...a lot of the others make the room look rather cheap when they are finished. There are some cool ideas but in the long run I almost think a lot of the projects wind up falling apart after they are exposed to a family. I know they would get ruined in my house between the dogs, the cat, my husband and the not so delicate "ME"!

Did you notice how nice out it is starting to get? I took a chance and hung out some blankets to air out. I hope it doesn't rain...

Christy: Growing up?? Or just getting older?? Me, I will never "grow up." I tell my kids that Peter Pan is my alter ego. (LOL) Pass on my b-day wishes to your young man. Donna
