Question for computer geeks/forgotten password

My computer won't retain my husband's password for Outlook Express. It remembers mine for some reason. It keeps asking me to re-enter it despite the "remember my password" box being checked. The problem is we don't remember the original password. The black dots keep showing up as the password. I have done some searching and found that this kink in the system can sometimes happen. I have Windows XP. I'm not even sure that even if I knew the original passoword, that re-entering it would stop this annoying problem.

How do I retrieve a lost password for Outlook Express 6? I see there are lots of things to purchase that claim you can retrieve a forgotten password...not sure if they are legit. Any help (in layman's terms) will be appreciated!

Re: Question for computer geeks/forgotten password

i remember when i called my isp to help me set up outlook, yrs ago.
they automatically gave me a password so when i had the problem you're having, i called them up and they gave me the password again.

if you set up the acct on your own, then i'm not sure how to help you.
i recently acquired a new laptop and set up my own acct and so, gave myself a password.
i would go through important dates as triggers in remembering?

i'll also see if there's anywhere in outlook, that can lead you in the right direction. i have windows xp also.

i'll let you know if i find anything.

Re: Question for computer geeks/forgotten password

ok, found it.

go to 1) start-2) control panel-3) user accounts.

click on your account, then "create a new password".

i think this is the route you want to go, and good luck.

Re: Question for computer geeks/forgotten password

you're right, kriso.
you need to contact your isp.
any troubleshooting topics did not include passwords.
and it says to contact your isp re: account settings....
