Talking My teen grew up!

After reading all of Tazzi's trials and tribulations, I had to jump in.

My 19 yo DD, the oldest, with whom I have butted heads for years, came home last month from soph. year at college, and said "You really were a great mom! I talk to my friends, and listen to what they say about their moms, and I tell them that never happened at our house, then I tell them about you and they all want you for their moms. You were strict but never as unreasonable as those guys!"

ahhh, sigh. sniff, sniff.

She also asked for money the next month.

Re: My teen grew up!

My younger brother went through a similar maturation process at the same age. Once he went away to college and lived with other people and learned about their lives ... he realized that his life and family had actually been pretty good.

Congratulations on your new relationship with your daughter.

Someday Tazzi, someday.

I was one of those teenagers who climbed through the br window....at 4am on a school night (day?). I ran around with less than stellar men. Dated a 23 year old at 16. Forged mom's name to get out of school. Stupidly drove drunk but never got caught (feel horrible about that - stupid). Drove down the local airports runway to see how fast we could go. Road tripped to NY in my best friend's car.

But, years later my mom and I are close. Now, I never confessed to anything I ever did as a teenager or as a college student (shudder).

Someday Tazzi, you will have a great relationship with your daughter provided you don't wring her neck before then.

We do have a great relationship, Beth, but that doesn't mean I don't want to wring her neck!!
