I am so furious ...

I just had to put my dog in the hospital. I hope my poor baby survives this.

He's exhibiting all of the symptoms: not eating for days now, throwing up even when he just drinks water, extreme lethargy.

Back when the recall first started he developed hellacious skin allergies ... half of his coat is gone because of it. We switched pet food to Dick Van Patten but, I guess not in enough time to prevent this more dangerous problem.

I just got back from the vet and another pet owner's dog is in the hospital with the same problem.

The pet food industry should be shot !!! You can't trust any of them !!!

Thanks. He's still able to drink water and urinate so, hopefully, he hasn't gone into full blown kidney failure yet.

They've got him on IV fluids now so ... hopefully that saves him.

I feel so guilty. I should have caught it earlier but, I thought he was still just recovering from the skin allergy. While half of his coat is gone from his skin peeling ... the redness, itching and congestion had disappeared and he wasn't in nearly as much distress as before.

He was lethargic but I thought he was just recuperating. And I've been so busy working, I didn't realize he hadn't been eating ... especially since it's hard to tell with our other dogs sharing the same food.

But today he started vomiting ... a very bad sign. If my dog dies ... I'm going to kill the pet food executive responsible for this !!!

But why would he get sick and the other dogs not given that they're all eating the same stuff?

I can only speculate but ... we did have a bizarre situation where I gave him a can, which he ate immediately ... and when I went to get another can to feed the others I saw that maggots had somehow gotten into one of the other cans in the same case of dog food I took that can from.

I threw the whole case out immediately ... and I don't think the other dogs ate anything from that same case. I have no idea how maggots got into canned dog food but there it was ... bizarre.

This dog is also part Sharpie and, from what I'm told, they have a tendency to get horrible skin allergies so ... that's all I thought it was.

But today my vet said my dog has the same contaminent that's causing all of these other problems so ... go figure. I must have had a really rotten case of contaminated dog food and my baby got hit really hard with it ...

Yeah, Shar Peis are prone to funky skin stuff.

I'm betting that he'll recover, Lizz. If he's still drinking and voiding the old kidneys are still functioning.

Oh, Lizz, I'm so sorry your baby is sick. I'm keeping you both in thought and prayer. Please let us know how he's doing; I'm betting he's going to be well soon.

I am so sorry for what you and your furry baby are going through. I, personally, would like to see the person(s) responsible for all this suffering to the many pets and their owners be forced to drink a cup or two of antifreeze to experience the effect for themselve(s). Please keep us posted on your baby.
