Great way to start the New Year. First day back at work 1-2-07 and he got laid off. I've been too upset to post it before now. He was laid off once before right after 9-11 and it took 2 years to find a new job and we nearly bankrupted.

The job market is much better now. He's already had 2 interviews. Much less money but certainly better than nothing. I'm so thankful I now have a job I enjoy, pays good and I'm full-time rather than PRN.

There's still more to be thankful for than not.

I am so sorry to hear about your husband's job loss. There's never a good time to find out such news, but at least you were able to enjoy the holidays before the boom was lowered.

Sounds like you have many good things going for you. First and foremost, the two of you have stayed together through previous hard times. Second, you have a good job. You also seem to be the kind of person who strives to keep a positive outlook. And your husband has already had some action in less than a week. That has to be encouraging.

I'm praying for both of you to come through this with good results. I'll put in my request that your husband ends up with something better than he had.

Oh, I'm so sorry. I know how it feels as it happened to me in October. I worked for 7 years for the company that publishes Doctor's Guide to the Internet (I was one of the editors of that site for a few years) and left it to go to a medical communication company where I'd be doing more writing. I took a pay cut because the bonus that we got in January would make my salary even higher. Wouldn't you know it, 3 months to the day I was hired, they laid off 10 out of 65 people - and I was one of them. That's why I'm back at the palliative care 7/14. I'm trying to rebuild my freelance base that I had way back before I was a full time employee.
