Re: Munchausen By Internet: Faking Illness Online

On one board I was on a woman faked the death of her husband from a sudden heart attack. For about two weeks she went on and on in great detail about the funeral arrangements, how her children were handling it, asking for advice about dealing with their grief and acting out. (This was a parenting board.) Then another poster found a post by her on a different board that her husband had been hospitalized with chest pain, checked out, found to be nothing, just a little scare.

Amen Angie (re letting it beat us or not)

And that "sole support" thing - it's nice to be able to be useful, helpful, etc. -- to some of us THAT is a crutch (been THERE!) - but it is too much pressure. And I've found that the recurring crises are often because they never sought any PROFESSIONAL help. They put on bandaids and that was it.

People use the internet to live out all sorts of weird fantasies. It's definately a different medium. I wonder if there are posters here claiming to be nurses but aren't really?

Yes, there are.

I ran into one. The way I could tell was the way she responded to certain posts, and the comments she made on other posts. Them didn't jive.

If I found one, I'm sure there are many...

This site seems more genuine than others I've posted at.
