Smile Just a little "picker-upper"...

For those who are weary and might need a little "lifting"...( I wrote this back in June while out in the back yard studying for my final academic exam, and the birds were singing their little hearts out..just had to put down the books, close my eyes, and LISTEN for a minute..this is what came out of that moment of bliss ) :

Have you ever truly listened
to the sweet melody
of a tiny, bright bird
so joyous and free?

Do you know that she sings
come rain or come shine,
she cares not the difference..
she sings ALL the time!

Have you heard in her song
a message to you?
Do you feel in your heart
a need to sing, too?

Sing THANKS for the morning,
sing THANKS for the day;
remember to sing when things DON'T go your way!

Sing with your smile
and sing through your tears..
the song in your heart
will add LIFE to your years!

For a heart filled with song
which was born of the soul
is a heart full of joy
that never grows old.

Like the tiny, bright bird
a sweet melody
will lite on your lips
and set your cares free.

TAKE FLIGHT WITH A SONG!
TAKE FLIGHT AND BE FREE!
Join birds on the wing
as they sing "follow me"!

p.s. take the time to LISTEN, to SEE, to HEAR..to LIVE, LOVE, LAUGH... and to REST !!! ((( )))

Thanx, Cheerfuldoer ! Don't consider myself a poet at all...don't sit around and think up poetry to write or anything like that...no TIME !
It just kinda "happens" all on its' own when I'm suddendly overwhelmed by beauty, trauma, or the likes. And when it comes, I can't stop it or make it go away, so then I'll just start jotting down what I'm hearing in my head ! Hope it lifts someone's spirits out there !

Jnette.....the same way you describe receiving poetry to write down is the same way it all happens to me, too. I never sit down with pen and paper and say, okay, what poem should I write, or what will I write about, etc. Every poem I've ever written.....and I have TONS of them......has been written straight off the top of my head.....no forethought applied. Sometimes, after I'm through writing my thoughts down on paper, I'll stop and read what I wrote in amazement. Yes.....jnette......that is often times how a true poet gets all the amazing things they publish or write about. I think it's a gift from God...and I thank Him each day for that gift that only HE could have given me.

Gosh , Jnette ! Don't you think that means you should be a writer? Why don't you go for an English degree? When you know you have a talent for writing and poetry writing at that, why not go into a field that would allow you the time and means to develop and practice it?

I love your poem. Thanks for sharing.

IMHO, nursing will wring every last drop of originality and creativity and sensitivity in you.

Teaching doesn't.

Thanx again, Cheerfuldoer..I'm with you on that one ! I'm grateful for, and give thanx for the very breath in my nostrils. I believe out of a grateful heart springs forth a true joy of life..with ALL the ups and downs that go with it!

And PRNnurse; nope...English courses, literature and the likes just ain't me! Too dry. I only do what comes natural..if I HAD to "study" poetry or English it just wouldn't be the same. As I said, I'm not a poet, don't WANT to be.. just thought I'd sprinkle a few warm fuzzies for someone out there who might be needing them at the moment. Nursing is what I was BORN to do.. I know that in the deepest part of my soul. Knew it as a toddler, when I snitched every article of medical supply I could get my hands on in the routine "physicals" and innoculations and took them home to care for my dolls in their "hospital beds"... Appreciate the thoughts, tho' ! ((( )))
