I'm a loser magnet!

Every once in a while a pt obviously becomes sweet on me. The last time it happened was a disgusting aging hippy in for narcotic OD, who almost went AMA and I had to go out in 10 degree weather with him while he threatened to leave, and had a cigarette. He kept telling me how I reminded him of his last girlfriend. The next day he gave his number to one of the day nurses to give to me.

Yesterday I had a voluntary ETOH detox, I'm not sure why he was in was in stepdown, perhaps because of his previous hx of ETOH detox seizures. He was very nice and I established a good rapport with him, and gave him his ativan on the protocol liberally. It was quite obvious by the end of the shift that he was sweet on me, as he tried to find out my marital status. When I told him that the next nurse was really nice, he said "But I like you!".

Anyways, I'm obviously a loser magnet. Why can't a rich, handsome single guy fall for me?

LIFE IS A PAIN SOMETIMES

the problem is that they see you as you are and they see themselves as they were 20years ago..or how they thought they were 20 years ago

Re: I'm a loser magnet!

I hear ya. I've had an old man start touching my breasts and then slowly go down, down and down and I couldn't do a thing about it as I was holding him over so the other aide could wash his back.

I had a 20 year old in with d/t's who peed on my leg and then called me love and asked for my number.

I had another old man who said I was his wife and refused to answer any questions without me in the room considering I was his next of kin.

I get more action in a 12 hr shift than I do all year.

Oh, and the guy feeling me up? Told me I had a nice rack and if I would model the twins for him.

I told him if he had a benjamin in his pocket I would.

Re: I'm a loser magnet!

Ah man this reminds me of this guy I knew in university that for some reason I keep suddenly running into in awkward situations (after 10 years). The man was sweet on me then and also had quite a lot of psych issues. Me being a softy and an aspiring psych nurse used to pay attention to him and give a sympathetic ear. I thought I'd left him comfortably in my past and then he starts resurfacing....
