Thumbs up How to post pictures in your posts....

Break Room users:

If you do not wish to use the "attachment" method, here are some pointers on how to post pics right into your post.

The easiest way I have found is to register with photobucket.com which is free. You can download your favorite pics to this site and use them from there to insert into your posts here.

How to...

Follow instructions at photobucket.. use the browse box to download pics from your computer in your documents or "my pictures" files/folders.

I would recommend that you first resize your pics so they don't take so long to download.. at photobucket OR here, and so they don't show up as multi megabyte "posters".

To resize your pics I have two links here you can go to.. both are free software downloads, choose the one that suits your needs best.

http://www.irfanview.com/

http://bluefive.pair.com/pixresizer.htm

To resize, use the pixel resizer... type in your height and width. I usually go for 450 - 500 width ... the height will then automatically insert to keep proper proportion.
After you have resized the picture, save it to your PC in the new size. Then download to photobucket.

Underneath your pics on photobucket are three boxes.. the bottom one is IMG.
LEFT click on that one (it will highlight in blue), then RIGHTclick on it, and then click "copy".

Then go to your post here, and rightclick.. then "paste" into your post by inserting at the place you want it to be.

The main thing for avitars is resizing your avi to "fit" the 100x100 pixel requirement.

Any photo software you may have of your own should have a resizing tool, or you can crop it to a particular size even, if you wish. Then save it to your PC files/folders for download to the "custom avitar" tool here at Allnurses.

If you wish to use the "attachment" method provided here to post pics, resize as usual, then click "manage attachments" below the posting area under the blue "attach files".

It will open a browse box for you to choose your pics from the files in your pc.
Follow the instructions given there.. very simple.

If you want to post a pic from the web and not from your personal files:

Find a special pic you like on the web and rightclick. At the bottom you will see "properties".

Leftclick on "properties", then leftclick while dragging the cursor over the entire URL address until it is highlighted in blue. You will have the entire address when it ends in either .jpg or.gif

Rightclick on the blue highlighted address and hit "copy".

Then go to your message/post and above the white posting area you will note a small yellow box (icon) that looks like a postcard or photgraph (see the mountains?)

Click on that. It will open a box for you to insert the URL address by rightclicking and PASTE. Then hit the "OK" button up there in that box and it will place your image into your post.

Play with it... try it out... don't get frustrated.. you WILL get it in the end. Persistence pays off !

Hope that helps !

Have fun !

An added note:

If you should later choose to delete any pics from the photobucket site, htese pics will then also no longer appear here, as they are direct links to the photobucket site. Just keep that in mind.

I will often delete some off photobucket, especially if the thread I posted my pics on is old or "dead", so it doesn't matter.

And don't forget we do have our very own ALLNURSES PHOTOGALLERY for our use as well !!!

I just made your thread a 'sticky', jnette. I might need it someday, and I don't want to search all over the board for it! (Well, someone else might need it, too.)

Thanks!
