Happy Mother's Day to all Mom's out there!!!
Horrid night at work last night. Another nurse and I switched so I'm off today and she'll be working and then I'll pick up for her next week for one day. Kinda glad about that in the long run cos I need a break from last night anyway.

Why My Lips Stayed Chapped On Mother's Day
===========================================
So, we had this great cat named Jack and the kids would carry
him around and nothing ever bothered him. He used to hang out
and nap all day long on this mat in our bathroom.
Well we have 3 kids and at the time of this story they were 4
years old, 3 years old and 1 year old. The middle one is Eli.
Eli really loves chapstick. LOVES it. He kept asking to use my
chapstick and then losing it. So finally one day I showed him
where in the bathroom I keep my chapstick and how he could use
it whenever he wanted to but he needed to put it right back in
the drawer when he was done.
Last year on Mother's Day, we were having the typical rush
around and try to get ready for Church with everyone crying and
carrying on. My two boys are fighting over the toy in the
cereal box. I am trying to nurse my little one at the same time
I am putting on my make-up. Everything is a mess and everyone
has long forgotten that this is a wonderful day to honor me and
the amazing job that is motherhood.
We finally have the older one and the baby loaded in the car and
I am looking for Eli. I have searched everywhere and I finally
round the corner to go into the bathroom. And there was Eli.
He was applying my chapstick very carefully to Jack's . . . rear
end. Eli looked right into my eyes and said "chapped."
Now if you have a cat, you know that he is right--their little
butts do look pretty chapped. And, frankly, Jack didn't seem to
mind.
And the only question to really ask at that point was whether it
was the 1st time Eli had done that to the cat's behind or the
hundredth.
And THAT is my favorite Mother's Day moment ever because it
reminds us that no matter how hard we try to civilize these
glorious little creatures, there will always be that day when
you realize they've been using your chapstick on the cat's butt.

Thanks for the laugh, Zoe! That appeared in my email this week too! As we discussed it at work, a coworker related: When her kids were 2 and 3, they were playing on the floor, while the greyhound dog lay nearby, while she worked in the kitchen. She glanced up to find the dog looking her way with the most puzzling look on its face, as if saying, "Mom, NOW what do I do???" Then she noticed that her youngest had his finger inserted in the dog's anus, and the child repeated, "Hole. Hole." "Yes, that's a hole, honey," she said, and I believe she redirected him (after a little washing up), lol!!! Kids!!!!
We had a nice lunch with mil on Sat, gave her cards (some I bought at the Anne Geddes shop in Downtown Disney; you know, the cards with the babies sleeping in flowers, dressed like ladybugs and fast asleep, etc. She loves those. ) . . had a good visit. Drove home, dropped the kids off at the theater (a friend's parent to drive them home post-movie), took off for a jam about 30 min away (in Claremont). Good jam, too: smallish. Fingers (callouses) on my left hand are hurtin' from playing guitar, lol! Just pulled in, and car is now unloaded (one guitar, three banjos, one dobro, two folding chairs, three instrument stands, microphone and stand and amp, and dh's "purse.").
Time to get to bed!
"Irene, Good-Night!!" See you all later!
That story cracked me UP, Di. hahahahhaa
Sounds like ya'll had a great yesterday. Hope your Mother's Day is exceptional.

Happy Mother's Day!
Off to work - I didn't get to see my daughter with her date as they came by at 9 p.m. and I was asleep by then. I did see just her prior in her canary yellow dress.
All I really want is someone to do those dinner dishes and take the power saw and logging truck equipment off the front porch.
Coffee , shower . .. . .w o r k . . .

Hope your work day goes well, steph, and that your Mother's Day is a great one!!!

I do have some wonderful news! I have another daughter. Or rather, I got one back. This was my foster child in the early 90's, who became my ward and then almost my adoptee. Her biomom (who abandoned her and who was in prison in NY at the time) would not give permission, and after that my child kind of went off the deep end. I could not keep her safe, and back to "the system" she went. I saw her again a couple of years later. She had a little guy by then, lived with me for a month or so while she got her feet on the ground, went to work as an aide in a NH. Then, more deterioration, and away from my life she went again. But an ex-husband (notice how I say that like there are a lot of them--but I had fewer than Liz Taylor!) was her attorney and at one point I contacted him to find out how she was. She owed him $25 (surprise). So I sent a check. Maybe a year later I guess she went in to pay him and he told her I had taken care of it. I got the most beautiful card with pictures--she has three children now and is raising her neice. And since then, lots of phone calls, IM's, emails and a brief visit. She'll come again when she has wheels (should be soon) and the kids are out of school. Wahoo. God is good.
What else, what else. Oh, new job starts tomorrow. After disappointment after disappointment, one finally stuck. I'll be a traveler for the first time (driving 50 miles or more apparently qualifies one for per diem, wahoo again).
Ya'll have a great day too!
So glad you and your dd have reunited, chris. COngratulations on the weight loss and your new job.
Happy Mother's Day to you, too!

Hi, Mary Ann. I'm sure your mother was happy with the flowers.
Hope you are having a special Mother's Day.
And, hope you can get the heel problem resolved soon.
