aw maryann, i'm sorry mom is giving you a run for your money.
but i must tell you, if i reach 91yo, i'm going to do it my way.
it sounds like your mom is intent on living out her yrs the way she chooses to.
and for that, i very much respect her.

hugs to you, my friend.

Kind of a hard week and weekend for me with all the ads about Father's Day. I couldn't even bring myself to look for a Father's Day card for dh.

Netters.....I love the pictures of Minnie. I don't have any really recent pictures of my grand-Jack to post. I sure miss the little dickens.

I'm so sorry tn. I know this will be painful for you this weekend. ((((warmest hugs))))

I'm sure you DO miss that little grand-Jack . Bet he's a a cutie-patootie!

Hope you all are having a good Saturday.
I've been away from here this week----have been hugely BUSY.
I don't really know what's been going on here.

Wed. afternoon we had an appt. for my Mom at her MD.
I was shocked when I saw my Mom when we picked ger up!!
I talk with my Mom EVERY day--sometimes twice a day. She says she's fine, but had been having a bit of shortness of breath.
She denied any cough;
Well, when we picked her up, I wasn't sure she'd make it to the Doctor.
They did an EKG at the office & found besides being fluid overloaded, she was in A-Fib. So, we had to take her to the ER.
They admitted her & she is still in hospital. She has the new A-Fib,
CHF Exacerbation, and pneumonia.
So, we've been back and forth to the hospital.
She was pretty poor when admitted-- today she is better, but still quite SOB with minimal exertion. She's still being monitored.
She's so weak; She's going to start PT Monday.
So, we'll see.

She's 91 & she's SO Stubborn!!!
Don't know what we'll end up doing.
As it is, my Bro & SIL live in the house, they have a small apt in the basement. They wanted to take her to the ER last weekend, but she refused. Get This, THEY DIDN"T BOTHER TO TELL ME ANY OF THIS.

Oh well!! Anyway, we'll have to see how this all ends up.

Sorry I'm so behind. Hope you all have a wonderful evening. I have to work tonite.
Oh Mary Ann.. I'm so sorry to hear this. How scary. I hope she pulls through this like the trooper she is. Can you get some good Home Health in there for a couple months? They can send PT in to her home through HH as well. Just to have a nurse in there 2-3xweek to check her out, along with some PT.. certainly worth considering. (((hugs))) to you as well, my Friend.

Yes, we had yummy grilled cheeses the other noc as well, but it was too hot for the tomato soup. The soup is too sweet for my taste, anyway. And I must have REAL CHEESE on my sammiches, none of that Velveeta crapola!

OK.. so Mutti and I had a BLAST at WMART !!! She LOVED every second of it! "Oh look at DAT ! Dis iss da BIGGEST stroe I haf EVVA been in !" Her eyes were as big as saucers. Of course, she used to shop at much larger WMARTS and other stores back in AZ. when she was still herself, but she has no recollection of that. To her, everything is brand new and she is seeing them for the first time. I pushed her around in her little lightweight W/C all OVER the store, we stopped and looked at EVERYTHING, to pass the time. Then we had a nice, whole wheat veggie sub in the WMART "Subway", and she was able to see the entire store and all the ppl from there as well. She had the best time. Of course I let her pick out a nice, new llittle top in her favorite bright fushia color, and we found come cute little matching earrings. She was delighted.

It was such a joy seeing her so thrilled with the simplest things, all so new to her. She acts like she's never seen a store before, and our few cars in town were "look at all dis tr-r-raffic! Haff you evva SEEN so much trr-r-affic!" (this coming from one who used to navigate the Phoenix Beltways, etc.)

I feel all warm and fuzzy now (no, haven't had my White Russian yet, either!) .. but just from having made her day in such a simple way.

Won't be but another 1/2 hour and it will all be lost.. she won't remember ever having gone out, but she sure relished each and every moment of it at the time! I told her we could do this every Sat. if she liked, I always have one or 2 little items I need to pick up anyway, and I'll just take her with me.

OK.. gonna go chill on the couch for awhile... you all HAVE been chatty today !

Mary Ann I hope your mom comes through this OK.

tn I know these kinds of holidays can be hard (I try to avoid thinking about Mother's Day myself).

jnette I'm glad to hear that Mutti can find pleasure in the simple things, that's a good way for elderly folks to find meaning in life even if they can't do as much as they used to.

Back from class, we got out two hours early. Everything went, fine, now I just need the orientation specific to my unit and I'll be ready! A little nervous about the basic skills test the unit orientation involves...getting an accurate radial pulse is still hit-or-miss with me

Still thinking about what to do after NS...more education probably, but what? I could probably do well in a number of areas, but what would I find fulfilling enough to do long term and invest the time and money in education? An NP, like most of my classmates? A CRNA? A PhD? Something else? Just not sure...

Joe, the closer you get to the end of your schooling, the more clear your future persuits will become. One step at a time. No need to worry about the future, the day at hand has worries enough, right?

Keep focused on the current task at hand. You're doing great, and we're proud of you !

We had a nice thunderstorm with some welcome and refreshing rain.. about 1/4 inch, and hopefully more to come. DH was getting worried about his taters out there in his garden.. along with the tomatoes, his row of beans, a few peppers, 2 rows of corn, and of course the cukes!

We desparately needed the rain. Thank you for the rain !!!

So what is this about Don showing his stuff to everyone?

So........... do you guys miss me yet?

mmmmmmmmmmm... this White Russian tastes mighty fine........

They're so darn TASTY, it hard to just SIP.... you think it's a darn milkshake because it's so GOOD, then the next thing you know, you're knocked on your butt!

(of course, not if you only put the required ONE shot of each in it, instead of the shot and a half of each....)

Siri, thanks for that lunch. It looked so good. Maybe I'll grab me some.

(((((((tn))))))) I'm sorry. Yes, It's going to be hard. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers. We'll be here for you.

(((((((Maryann))))))), it sounds like your mom is in good hands...but it still hurts to see her like that and it keeps you worried. Thank God you got there when you did. God bless her. And you.

Jnette, you are so very good with Mutti. You're pretty wonderful, ya know? And I want that puppy of yours. And Charlie would just fit right in with all our cats. Thanks for all your cute piccys.

Re: Good Saturday Morning, June 14, 2008

well it has been one week today since mom died. It hurts very much almost all the time. I just don't know how to do this. Iguess day by day, some days are a little easier than others. Sometimes I just can't believe it.

Jnette love the pics of your pets, glad Mutti had a good time a walmart. .

Had to take dh to er today his eye was very swollen and watery, he seems to have an infection. He wears contacts and hasn' t owned glasses in over 30 years so he isn't seeing so well.

((((TN)))))
hugs and prayers for all
