Well they do have little hand-held games like Uno and the like (I loved Yahtzee growing up). Or maybe a book! Books are ALWAYS age appropriate. If she is a reader it will help distract her from being bed-ridden all the time. Coloring books are cool too. (I admit that sometimes when I'm REALLY bored, I color in my nephews haha). Or if you think it's appropriate maybe some kind of craft like hemp-necklace kit or maybe bracelletes or something of that nature. I know they even have kits that teach younger kids how to knit/crochet and the like.

Re: Get well ideas for bedbound youngster

I doubt at this point I need to say it but as you guys know, I have had surgeries before. It always made me smile to get balloons, and coloring books with new crayons. The one that meant the most to me was when my principal got it for me and brought it to my house (herself not delivered) after I got home.

Thanks, everyone. I decided to send a gift every week, depending on her level of activity. First gift -- balloon, a coloring card and teddy. She loved it.
