Fried Coke?

I don't understand...

I'm not gonna have the fried crickets, cause I don't wanna...

OTOH, deep fried pickles are really good and I wouldn't be averse to trying some of the other goodies listed...

Re: Fried Coke?

How do you deep fry a liquid?

I've never had deep fried twinkies, pickles, mars bars, etc. Absolutely no crickets no matter what their nutrional value is. Ick.

Re: Fried Coke?

The Del Mar Fair has a booth that sells deep fried Twinkies and Snickers. I've had bites from both (we'd buy one and share to mitigate the damage!) They're both pretty good. I'm sorry to say that it is very difficult to find Mars bars out here. I haven't seen one in quite a long time. They're one of my fave candy bars (so it's probably just as well they're not widely available...) Cheesecake Factory makes a fried mac & cheese appetizer. We got an order when we met fil and his wife there for lunch once. Even with 4 people sharing one order, it probably still had more fat in it that one should have in a day!

Still trying to figure out the fried Coke bit. I hope someone happens along who can solve this baffling mystery for us...

Re: Fried Coke?

Ya'll ever have fried mac and cheese? Never heard of that. Fried Coke - as much as I like Coke......no. Never was brave enough to try fried Twinkies either.

Hmmmmm, I'd have to smell this stuff first. (I know, I'm weird)......

Re: Fried Coke?

I tried the fried pickles in Sedona a few years ago--NO!!!!! My son, who will eat just about anything, didn't like them either.

Re: Fried Coke?

When I think of all the foods I used to deep-fry...........and in butter-flavored Crisco, no less!! It's a wonder our arteries aren't completely loaded with that gunk. Funny how gallbladder trouble changes your perspective on eating greasy stuff.

But I never even thought of frying Coke, ice cream, turkeys, or Twinkies (fried ice cream just does not compute in my simple brain). YUCKA!!! I still enjoy the occasional beer-batter fish-and-chips basket, but the emphasis is on "occasional"........and I don't even own a deep-fryer anymore. The only fats we use in cooking are olive and canola oils (and a single quart bottle of canola lasts us at least a month). We don't eat anywhere as healthfully as we should, but I think our hearts will give us a few Brownie points for cutting way back on the fatty stuff.......and in the meantime, we won't be trying any deep-fried candy bars or soda, thank you very much.

Re: Fried Coke?

Hmmm . . . . never had any of the above mentioned fried items.

We use mostly olive oil but also have a good vegetable oil (canola or others) and a bottle of that will last me about a year. We use a bottle of olive oil every couple of months. We hardly use oil.

Butter on the otherhand . . . .
