FRIDAY January 18, 2008

Not Friday for another hour here, so I'm a tad early.

Back from class recently, did well on the quiz although it was a doozy because I didn't study enough on one section. Not making that mistake twice, was studying on the way home from class!

Very cold here too, nothing much to do tomorrow except study and do laundry. Saturday's going to be the coldest day yet and unfortunately I have class that morning.

Going to go to bed soon, so see you all tomorrow!

Re: FRIDAY January 18, 2008

Hi all.... back at work for 2 nights, then off for what seems like the first weekend in a while.. Keeping watch over a fresh postop duodenostomy s/p duodenal atresia baby. Busy, Busy! I'm looking forward to sleeping in on Saturday, cleaning out the mound of assorted papers and books in my truck, and getting stuff together for when grad school starts up again on Wed. It's weird. It's snowing and raining at the same time. Made for an interesting commute tonight....

Re: FRIDAY January 18, 2008

Very interesting (and tiring!) day today, spent at the Anaheim Convention Center, at NAMM.
Huge gathering of music merchants of ALLLLLLLLLLLLLL sorts!
Instruments (all kinds: winds, electrics, acoustics)
Sound equipment (microphones, amps, etc)
Insurance
Marketing
Woods (for the luthiers)
Supplies (cases, knobs, tuners, pick guards, picks, etc)

Kind of a "what's new and what our business features in the music industry" convention.

Oh, my goodness!! Lots of fun!
All different genres, and vendors from all over the US, Spain, Germany, South Korea, China, Japan, even Australia (Aboriginal Folk Art booth, from Sydney)!!
I was surprised at the number of booths featuring UKELELES!!
Some from Japan, some from Hawaii . . .
Lovely, GORGEOUS acoustic and electric guitars, banjos, mandolins, resonator guitars, etc etc!
Dh fell in love with a Cello-banjo, with its deep, resonant notes.

We got visitor passes from a friend of dh's, whom he met on the web.
Nice guy.
We had a good time walking around, seeing the ELABORATE and HUGE booths, playing some instruments, hearing others being played (we heard two GREAT impromptu gypsy jazz sets . . .)
We even saw half a dozen familiar faces (from bluegrass festivals/jams)!

Our youngest ds and his friend N went too.
Tomorrow our oldest will go as well. I think he'll enjoy it!

We'll be there (and at Disneyland, across the street ) tomorrow and prolly Sunday.

Stay safe in the snow, all affected!

Have a good day!

Re: FRIDAY January 18, 2008

Sounds like you had a nice time, Di!

Almost tea time here. I've made potato salad and coleslaw. Bought a ready cooked chicken at the shops,(being a tad lazy today! lol). DD will arrive soon, then after tea, she and I are going to a movie. She wants to see; "27 Dresses". OK, whatever. I'd prefer to see something else, but it's her call tonight! lol

Those kitty's are CUTE, Zoe. I've declared we wont get another cat, but sometimes I feel like caving in! lol Our dear old puss had to be sent to heaven about 4 years ago. We'd had her for 18 years.

Hi Muffie, Joe and all who follow.

Enjoy your friday when you reach it!

Re: FRIDAY January 18, 2008

Morning, All:
Been awake since 2:00 (that's what I get, for taking an hour-long nap between 3:30-4:30 yesterday, then going to bed at 9:00!). At least I got my "nap" out. I know I'll be exhausted by the time I get off work this afternoon, but maybe that will help me to sleep through the night tonight.

Speaking of tonight, another round of snow/sleet is expected for our area...right through the day tomorrow. No accumulation is "expected". We'll see.

I've had a busy week for a change. This has been the first time in many weeks that I have had home visits scheduled for four consecutive days in a row. Today I go into the office, finish my paperwork and turn it in along with my time and mileage. The downside to all this is that I only have two visits scheduled for next week and one the following week. It's been either feast or famine with this job...which is why I am anxious to hear back about that other job prospect which I have interviewed for twice during the past two months.

Have a great day!

Re: FRIDAY January 18, 2008

YIPPEE! Not only is it Friday and I'll have the weekend off AND Monday from school BUT (and this is the best part!!) We have a 2 hour delayed opening to school, since we are supposed to be at clinicals, with a delay we go to the school instead since we'd be hitting the floor so late if we went to clincals. Now, normally I love going to clincals. But this site and the instructor are enough to make me dread going. SOOO!! I don't have to go today..and didn't have to go last week one day d/t snow!! Now all I have to do is suffer through one more day of that place and that "teacher" and I'm done..forever with that place. Then I move onto a much more receptive place with an awesome instructor!!!

Phew! I am having a wonderful day already and its not even 6am yet!

Now, if the Snow gods will just listen to me next week when I get on bended knee (yet again) and beg for a snow day or some sort of weather that either cancels clinical or makes for a delayed opening!!!

Wishing all the most perfect of days, and if not perfect at the very least bearable. Take care my friends.
