Love love love 60's and 70's psychotic music. Jefferson Airplane, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd and Janis Joplin are the epitomy of rock.

8 tracks....lol. I hated how right in the middle of a great song....it had to switch tracks!

Had so many favorites, it's hard to pick. Ted Nugent, Bob Seger, Jethro Tull, Elton John, Steve Miller Band....

Oh Don....a friend let me borrow a DVD of Elton John....I think it was called an Evening with EJ....FANTASTIC! DH and I watched it and sang through the entire thing....lol.

Re: favourite music ever

My favorite artist of all time is the Carpenters. To this day I'll drag out my vinyl and play them. I also have much of their stuff on CD and even have a couple of DVDs. I adore them.

I never had an 8-track player. I was jealous of my friends that did because they were portable.

My favorite album of all time is one I had on vinyl and I now have on CD now, is "Between the Lines" by Janis Ian. Very well written and the song "At 17" is the best lyrically written song I've ever heard, but I guess because at the time it came out I was 16ish and could relate so well being the misfit that I was.

Here's an old vid of At Seventeen.

AT SEVENTEEN
(Janis Ian)
I learned the truth at seventeen
That love was meant for beauty queens
and high school girls with clear skinned smiles
who married young and then retired
The valentines I never knew
The Friday night charades of youth
were spent on one more beautiful
At seventeen I learned the truth
And those of us with ravaged faces
lacking in the social graces
desperately remained at home
inventing lovers on the phone
who called to say – come dance with me
and murmured vague obscenities
It isn't all it seems at seventeen
A brown eyed girl in hand me downs
whose name I never could pronounce
said – Pity please the ones who serve
They only get what they deserve
The rich relationed hometown queen
marries into what she needs
with a guarantee of company
and haven for the elderly
Remember those who win the game
lose the love they sought to gain
in debentures of quality and dubious integrity
Their small-town eyes will gape at you
in dull surprise when payment due
exceeds accounts received at seventeen
To those of us who knew the pain
of valentines that never came
and those whose names were never called
when choosing sides for basketball
It was long ago and far away
The world was younger than today
when dreams were all they gave for free
to ugly duckling girls like me
We all play the game, and when we dare
we cheat ourselves at solitaire
Inventing lovers on the phone
Repenting other lives unknown
that call and say – Come dance with me
and murmur vague obscenities
at ugly girls like me, at seventeen

TWEETY - I love the Carpenters, too. As a matter of fact, I had a friend sing one of their songs at my first wedding when I was 18. She sang "We've Only Just Begun". And just like my first marriage...Karen had a tragic ending, only to her life. God rest her soul. I'm still here...so I dare to make a difference "outside the box" -- no pun intended. I also like Janis' song "At Seventeen". Many of us can relate to either part of or all of that song.
