Speaking of bad luck, my best friend James, every time we went out to party of my birthday

for 5 years in a row, something bad happened to HIM, back when we used to go out 24/7.
1st year: We were at a club and someone put the date-rape drug in HIS drink...he passed out in the club and we had to take him to the hospital.
2nd year: We were at a club and I put my purse underneath the seat in his car, someone smashed the window anyway and took it.

I paid his insurance deducatable...after all, it was my fault.
3rd year: This same car, I kid you not, was stolen. Never recovered. I had the stupid idea of telling him to put his keys behind his back tire (neither one of us had pockets and were going dancing). I guess someone found them.

I have done this for years and never had a problem.
4th year: The new car, wasn't hardly a year old. We left a bar due to an altercation with the bartender because we gave him a $100 bill that we had just got out of the ATM, and he tried to say we gave him a $10, and the manager refused to count the drawer to verify. We decided to go home. On our way home, he was FURIOUS and ranting and raving, I told him he was getting ready to hit a median and he had to swerve at the last minute to avoid it...and 60 seconds later that almost flipped the car, and blew out 2 tires. It was 2:00 a.m., and 90 degrees outside, we had to walk over a mile to my apartment with strange people stopping to see if we needed a lift (this is before everybody had cell phones).
5th year. We went out again, and we were both 3 sheets in the wind.

I was going home with my boyfriend at the time, and James wanted to say out, and I told him not to drink and drive and gave him a key to my house and told him to take a cab home (it was a $5 cab fare from Center City).
I got a call at 7:00 am. that he had been arrested for a DUI, so I had to go post bail and it took me 6 1/2 hours to get him out.
We decided that my birthday was a bad omen

and that was the last time we went out together to celebrate it.
And to those who are wondering...NO...I don't party like that anymore...having a baby and having to set an "example" will put a stop to that!
