Drivers Stink

I was in a fender bender today. I was on my way to school...the car ahead of me breaks hard...I break hard...some guy plows right into me. Minimal damage to my car...severe damage to his car. Shook me up though cuz it was my first accident (only had my lisence for 3 months).

Re: Drivers Stink

So sorry Meg. I take it your okay though?

That happened to me on 9/11/01 and it does shake you up. I wasn't so lucky. My seatbelt failed and my head hit the steering wheel. Luckily my roommate was with me and recognized that I had to go to the ER.

And the following 9/11 I get stuck by a dirty needle, the next 9/11 my ex calls, and I'm not even going to go on. Ever since I stay home on 9/11 to protect me and others.

Re: Drivers Stink

Yes, some drivers are bad.

A village idiot crashed into my car approximately 1 week ago. At the time, I had only had my new 2006 car for 6 whopping days when this happened. I am now without an operational car due to the carelessness of a bad driver.

Re: Drivers Stink

sounds like another day in boston.
i'm glad you were not physically injured, meg.
do not let this destroy your confidence.
i'm teaching 2 of my teens to drive (in boston!) and when i get nervous, i tell them that it's not them but the other drivers on the road....
truly, in some areas more than others, one needs to drive very defensively.
you'll be ok sweetie.
give it a little time.

Re: Drivers Stink

Speaking of bad luck, my best friend James, every time we went out to party of my birthday for 5 years in a row, something bad happened to HIM, back when we used to go out 24/7.

1st year: We were at a club and someone put the date-rape drug in HIS drink...he passed out in the club and we had to take him to the hospital.

2nd year: We were at a club and I put my purse underneath the seat in his car, someone smashed the window anyway and took it. I paid his insurance deducatable...after all, it was my fault.

3rd year: This same car, I kid you not, was stolen. Never recovered. I had the stupid idea of telling him to put his keys behind his back tire (neither one of us had pockets and were going dancing). I guess someone found them. I have done this for years and never had a problem.

4th year: The new car, wasn't hardly a year old. We left a bar due to an altercation with the bartender because we gave him a $100 bill that we had just got out of the ATM, and he tried to say we gave him a $10, and the manager refused to count the drawer to verify. We decided to go home. On our way home, he was FURIOUS and ranting and raving, I told him he was getting ready to hit a median and he had to swerve at the last minute to avoid it...and 60 seconds later that almost flipped the car, and blew out 2 tires. It was 2:00 a.m., and 90 degrees outside, we had to walk over a mile to my apartment with strange people stopping to see if we needed a lift (this is before everybody had cell phones).

5th year. We went out again, and we were both 3 sheets in the wind. I was going home with my boyfriend at the time, and James wanted to say out, and I told him not to drink and drive and gave him a key to my house and told him to take a cab home (it was a $5 cab fare from Center City).

I got a call at 7:00 am. that he had been arrested for a DUI, so I had to go post bail and it took me 6 1/2 hours to get him out.

We decided that my birthday was a bad omen and that was the last time we went out together to celebrate it.

And to those who are wondering...NO...I don't party like that anymore...having a baby and having to set an "example" will put a stop to that!
