Dell to recall 4.1M laptop batteries

A Dell spokesman said the batteries were made by Sony Corp (NYSE:SNE - news). and placed in notebooks that were shipped between April 1, 2004, and July 18 of this year.

I already ordered my replacement battery. Didn't know about it until I saw it on the news. No emai, postcard, nothing from Dell.

I'm sure if your battery had caught on fire, they would have said, "It was a well known recall."

my son just got a del laptop and i saw this article of the meeting in japan where they were all standing around while the laptop burnt merrilly away on the top of the table
when i told my son about it he just laughed 'senile moment mom'

Bumping this thread up. I too have a Dell laptop but I checked out the Dell website and put in the code and mine isn't affected.

I'm beginning to wonder if I need to question if my Compaq laptops' batteries would overheat as well.
