Bee sting adventure

What a joyous adventure that was. Been stung a dozen and a half times without incident. Then got nailed a week and a half ago. Ended up with massive swelling in the palm of my hand (hand doubled in size, at least) that didn't go away for two days. Got 2 grams (yes, big dose) of Rocephin IM because the darn thing got infected...up my arm, into my elbow and into my finger joints. Prednisone for a week, along with Benedryl and Cipro. Had to wear a splint for 6 days to immobilize my hand and prevent the infx from going into my tendons/ligaments. Doc was wanting to refer me to a hand surgeon, but the only one in our area is on vacation til the end of the month (not that I would have been jumping at the idea of surgery). All above tx didn't progress as nicely as it should have (specialists arguing about how wrong it was to give me prednisone...my hand got screwed up anyhow). So now I have to have OT starting tomorrow morning.

All for a bee sting!

And typing one handed bites.

Oh, what an awful ordeal! I am so sorry, and I hope the OT is able to get you back to normal... how horrible.

All from a dang bee, huh? Ain't life grand...

Re: Bee sting adventure

Ouch....I feel for you!! I'm allergic to wasps....I've done the swollen all over thing with wasp stings a time or two. I learned...if I am going to be painting outside to carry a can of carburator cleaner on me...it MELTS them in mid-flight!! It's much more fun than an epi-pen
