I am a CM working for a private CM firm. We use billable minutes as a basis for productivity. Does anyone else use this system? I find it extremely difficult to produce to the level I am expected to on a daily basis. In an 8 hour day, we are to bill a minimum of 6 hours and 45 minutes. This doesn't seem like a tremendous amount when you look at it initially, however, if you spend a lot of time on hold or do a lot of emailing back and forth to get information from UR providers, this eats into the amount of time that can count toward billing. We are not allowed to count time on hold, any time that is spent discussing the case within the company, even if it is an extremely complicated case, and are also unable to bill more than 10 min for a call to the claims payer, even if we spend 20 minutes discussing a difficult case. Am I just not cut out for this kind of work, or does this seem unreasonable to others as well?
