Re: LPN as Case Manager?

I am actually a LPN Medicare case manager of a SNF facility in Louisiana. My job discription states that the required education is a registered nurse but I have done the position for almost 2 years. My DON does have to sign the MDS behind me but I do all the careplans also. I guess it differs state to state. I must say though, I am only paid 18.00 an hour, which definately is not enough. I am going to school for my RN, which Ill have in 3 months and my pay will go up to 27.00 an hour for the same exact responsibilities.

Thumbs up Re: LPN as Case Manager?

Hello, I work at a hospital in South Florida and I know of 2 Case Managers who are LPNs. They have been there for years and does outstanding work. They are a permanent fixture at that hospital. I don't know how much they make though. I bid you blessings on your new career!

Re: LPN as Case Manager?

Hello,

Just wondering...how much do the LPN's make at your hospital? Are you way south like Miami? I know the pay is probably less than here but so is the cost of living right? I know, everything is so expensive now it's so hard to judge. Just wondering because I will be looking to move somewhere sunny and warm. Thanks in advance.

I think around $21 to $22 an hour (can't remember where I got that info from though)....but I have seen more agency LPNs working on the floor not too many staff LPN's there. I am sure with an agency the salary is more than that. I work 70 miles north of Miami, about 10 minutes from West Palm Beach. The cost of living is expensive here also, but property taxes are a little lower. And I LOVE the quality of life down here!

I'm from Essex County, NJ btw!
