Kaplan's program for Case Managers

Hello all!

Needing advice on what to do: I'm actively trying to get in to case management, and many places want you to have CCM credential to get hired. So, I contacted Kaplan, and was told that the program is one year in length. I just finished my BSN online last month, and was hoping to be a case manager for a couple of years while getting my MSN-FNP program done, so I was hoping that Kaplan's program could be done sooner than one year! Has anyone done this program sooner than one year, and was the program 'worth your time and effort'? Are there any other places offering a certificate in case management besides Kaplan? Any help is appreciated!

Thanks,
UnitRN01

Please understand that while Kaplan provides "a" certificate in case management, it is not the CCM credential. Rather you get a certificate signifying that you have completed their course.
In order to be eligible for the CCM credential, you must have work experience in the field of case management.

Good Luck to you!

Re: Kaplan's program for Case Managers

I completely understand this. What I'm trying to do is be one step ahead-have the certificate under my belt so that, when I do get a case manager job and get the experience needed, then I can take the certification exam. Make myself more marketable, so to speak. So....I'm trying to find out if any other school besides Kaplan offers this certificate. I've googled and can't find any others but someone else may have this information.

Thanks, UnitRN01

Re: Kaplan's program for Case Managers

I have not found any other school that offers this particular certificate. I am currently enrolled in the course. You have a max of 1 yr to complete the course but you can complete it sooner, if able. With your BSN you should find it relativel;y easy to get into the CM field. I am taking the course as I am not in a position to go for my BSN yet and need to reinvent my career due to a back injury. As an ADN nurse, I am going to be challenged as here in NY it seems that in order to get a CM position you need, not only the BSN, but experience too! Rare is it to find someone willing to train. Good luck.
