I'm interviewing tomorrow for an entry level Case Manager position at a local hospital. I've been an RN for 14 years, with most of my experience being in ICU, but I've also "dabbled" in L&D, Nursery, Telemetry, and Rehab.

Any pointers? Anything I should have a basic knowledge of, or shouldn't say (so I don't sound like a moron, lol). I have a very rudimentary knowledge base of what case management entails...

I unofficially have been offered the position; it still all has to go to HR then Compensation and I probably won't have anything official until Friday, but...

I'm super excited anyway!!

I have an interview for a nurse case manager position, what can I expect from the interviewers? I have been a nurse for 17 years, in many positions including nursing instructor.

Well, they knew beforehand that I have no CM experience, so they focused on general type things: how I interact with patients and families, how I deal with conflicts in the workplace, my strengths and weaknesses, what kind of supervisor was I looking for, stuff like that.

I got the "official" offer yesterday! The compensation was lower than I expected and I'm in negotiation right now for more money. The director called me this morning and let me know that she wasn't happy with the money they offered either, and she wanted me to know that they really wanted me for the position and that she hoped that I could come to some agreement on the $$ issue. I'm sure I will, so... it looks like I have a CM job for sure!

Well, I had my interview yesterday, they told me it would be three weeks before a decision was made, but the supervisor called to give me the unofficial offer this morning. I have to wait for HR to get the official offer, but looks good. I will be the inpatient nurse case manager for the ICU! I will be working with a very seasoned social work case manager and sharing an office with her, I can't wait!

That's excellent!! I'm jealous, lol... I'll be on Med-Surg at first because our ICU CM position is taken... but I'm still SUPER excited anyway, lol... It's going to be a lot of learning but I'm looking forward to a different kind of nursing, ya know?
