case managing a life-time auto injury

Does anyone out there have experience with case managing auto injury claims. I have a lifetime claim and am coming into it 22 years after the injury. Case management has never been on the file. Incomplete C-6 quad, need some help and feedback from someone with experience, I have 18 years in Workers' Comp but Auto is different. I know Insur company cannot "direct" treatment but how much "control" can they have on the medical treatment sought, updates on vehicle modifications/ new vehicles ect. I know I can order an IME whenever is reasonably necessary to determine future tx needs....can anyone give some info or enlightenment or a good reference resource. Many thanks.
