Anyone do CV Surgery?

Hi!

I am about to start a new position in Case Mgt......... it is "hospital funded" and for the hospital......but will only be working with CV surgeons.........

One of the physicians said that it is 3 jobs in one......... pt advocate in the middle....... then one side; hospital advocate..........and the other side is physician advocate.

Part of the job description says "responsible for variety of activities including UR, DC planning, care coordination and clinical resource management." Goes on to include Interqual, Patient Care Pathways, and CURP.......analyzes data trends and integrates findings into CQI................also presents formal internal unit based education programs....... and to seek opportunities to publish and teach at the school of nursing and professional organizations as appropriate.

My position will be strictly in-patient, but I will have a cohort who does all of the outpatients.

So........anyone with any sites or information to share to help me get half way ready for this job????? Any help will be GREATLY appreciated.
