There are opportunities in DD to work with children, but I would suggest that you get about 1-2 years pediatric as well as med-surg nursing before you go into the field. A lot of work in DD involves Triage, and you need to be well grounded in med-surg to be able to make assessments over the phone and give instructions to direct staff.
