I know there is another discussion about this topic over in the break room, but this one is more about the flaws in our system that place children with these types of issues with people who can't, or won't, provide the care they need. Are these kids better off in group homes? The cages are extreme, but in my experience, many children with these disorders who end up in foster care end up being victimized yet again. First, by having parents who either asked the state to take them, or led the state to determine that they should be removed. Then, by placing them in homes without the supports that are needed. I know that the kinds of supports to which I refer are expensive. My question is, why aren't these kids considered to be worth it? Until they are, we'll hear stories like these.
