trying to help

I am a BSN nurse in grad school. I have a neighbor who has a 9 year old son that was born atrial stenosis. He had surgery and his pulmonary valve was turned into his atrial valve and he has a implanted pulmonary valve (Ross procedure). The new atrial valve has grown with him, but of course the pulmonary has not. He also was born with a chromosome 8 abnormality, which causes him to be extremely slow, he has syndactyl. He goes to school everyday, but he is not able to get out much. If his mother were to call me for help, what do I need to be looking for as far as a possible problem? I don't know much about hearts. Can anyone help me out?

Thanks
Lolita
