Question Post resuscitation gtts

Do you have a standard concentration for your post code drips?? We are in the middle JCAHO and one of our hospitals got a ding for the old Broselow tape and rule of 6...
Is there a reason we can't use a premix dopamine gtt at 1600mcg/ml (800mg/500ml)?
Is it the volume that might be wasted and that is the reason pharmacy wants to mix a 800mcg/ml infusion in a 250ml bag (200mg/250ml)??
It seems like this could cause more confusion...
Thanks for any comments...

I think the point is to avoid calculation errors. Standard Concentration for Peds Dope drips is 800mcg/ml (200mg/250ml). Double concentrations should really only be used for kids with fluid restrictions. But every hospital does things differently.

Thanks misschelei,
Just to clarify for me....Our standard "premix" dopamine is 1600mcg/ml. Is there more potential for error by using 2 different concentrations for peds vs adults...in your opinion?? We are a small hospital (150 beds) and our pedi nurses also take care of adults...Pros and cons...

JACHO is obsessed with eliminating med errors so they give thier suggestions. But each hospitals do things differently. There's nothing wrong with using the 1600mcg/ml. Just check and recheck you calc. Most picu's have 2 nurses verify drips like then when are initially hung.
