Do they train per diem staff for PICU?

I know this is best asked to my place of employment, but I just wanted to throw it out there, because I really am not sure of how common it is....
I work in the OR, full time. But, I want to get experience in PICU, like say, per diem, a couple shifts a week. My question is will they train me? Do they usually train per diem staff? I do have pedi ER,home care (vents) and some NICU experience. What do you think? I know, it will vary, but I was wondering how commom it is, for them to train and orient a per diem person...

Re: Do they train per diem staff for PICU?

Our unit has a number of per diem staff, but they all are former PICU nurses who are now working in ER or RR or OR or NICU or some other area of the hospital, or are just working per diem for child care reasons.
