Confused CCRN Peds

Please forgive me if this question has been covered. I searched the archives and haven't found answers to my questions.

Is the CCRN peds exam different from the CCRN exam. Is there an adult CCRN exam with a portion of the exam on peds to certify you in peds, or is it an exam strictly for peds? I'd like to start studying for the exam and am not interested in studying the "adult" info. I worked adult cardiac step-down and have no intention of going back to big people.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Re: Confused CCRN Peds

AACN offers three different CCRN exams: Adult, Pediatric, and Neonatal. (My Adult exam had zero pediatric questions.)

Visit www.aacn.org for more information regarding the Pediatric CCRN.

Good luck!

Thanks for the link. I had checked the website before but somehow overlooked the 88 page handbook. It cleared everything up for me. Thanks!

The website and the Core Curriculum are two separate resources. The site contains, among other things, an 88 page exam handbook.

Re: Confused CCRN Peds

The Core Curriculum for Pediatric Critical Care Nursing is a 768-page book edited by Margaret Slota. The 2006 edition should be available from Amazon for about $65. If you're a member of AACN they have it for $56.95 or $3 more for non-members, plus $10.95 for shipping. It's really worth the money; I have the 1997 edition and will be getting the more recent one soon.
