Pediatric critical care nursing carries the broadest scope of practice of all the nursing specialties. PICU nurses care for all children from babies only hours old to teenagers in grown-up bodies, often in the same shift. These children may present with a simple problem easily treated, or multiple complex issues taking every ounce of skill to overcome. The learning curve is steep, the knowledge base wide and the rewards immeasurable. Learning from and helping each other can only enhance our care.
