Went to school in Eastern Kansas, Fredonia, to be exact. Name of the school is the Fall River School of Massage Therapy. Actually, we went to classes most of the time in Topeka. I went 4 to 5 days in a row, ("Intensives" about 12 hours a day) once a month for 6 months. 500 to 750 hours. And lots of homework. But nice to be able to get it all done once a month. All the other schools I looked at were Tues/ Thurs, etc.

It was an all encompasing curriculum, but focused on the medical massage aspect and it is approved by the Kansas State Board of Regents and the AMTA
So, I am getting ready to take the National Certification by NCBTMB on April 14. Wish me Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have to graduate from an approved school to take the Ntl Cert, which I am sure you know. I will also take the exam for AMMA American Medical Massage Assn sometime in the future. They told me that passing the test doesn't
mean too much Nationally until next year, then they will get approval to be a National Certified ..........? Something.

Tell them I get a commission!!!! They will love it. They are a riot. Sometimes hard to get a hold of when they aren't working on someone.

Thanks for the reply! I will be "in touch". How nice it is to have somewhere to get feedback for this type of cutting edge technology! Too bad the medical professionals out there are just now realizing how important touch therapy is. (Somthing by the way, we nurses have always known.) I think the reason they are paying attention to us massage therapists at all is because they are losing dollars and patients are telling them that they are getting good results. Here's to more massage and LESS stress!

okay gang, I start my massage program (it'll take a year for the triple certification process) this week while working full time & heading up committees, etc. I am a little nervous!

ok.. I went to school and got my license in masssage therapy back in 2002, and now this December i will be graduating from nursing school. I'd love to work in a rehabilitation area of some kind so I'd be able to use both of my licenses, and I would also love to take some classes and maybe later get certified in medical massage? Do they have CEU classes specifically for CEU hours? Or how would i go about doing what i need to do? The school I went to focused mainly on swedish massage, so I feel that i need more training...

check out Upledger online as they have lots of courses, for CEU's, whom my collegues have taken long w/e classes, like Manual Lymph Drain, etc...The courses travel so we usually go to Birmingham or Atlanta, so I am sure there are some your way. Best wishes to ya. I am in MT school now will grad next summer, have been RN 15+ years. So I am integrating this all into holistic practice. My school is certifying us in Therapeutic, Orthopedic & Spa techniques. I have already completed my Certified Healing Touch Practitioner, out of Colorado Center for Healing Touch, which is energy work. I combine this with the western nursing, massage & spa tx's for best care!

I got a lot of CEUs in Medical Massage from Ralph Stephens, CMT. He travels all over the country. Web site is http://www.ralphstephens.com/
I have also gotten lots of info from
American Medical Massage Therapy Association http://www.ammta.org/
They have tons of infor and CEUs on all aspects of medical massage and billing. And you can get Medical Massage Certification. Contact them for info on their courses.

Stevens CEUs are probably the easiest and cheapest to get, and AMMTA is probably the most comprehensive. Connie

glad to see so may nurses that are spreading the touch and the word of alternative healing. I had my CMT in california and had a holistic nursing practice for 3 years. I loved it. I did outcall and DC's offices, snf's, retirement inn's and health fairs. It was the best nursing I have ever done in the past 30+ years. The calif. CMT however does me no good in hawaii or north carolina though. So back to schol I go. Education is never a waste and I look forward to it. The hard part will be finding a Good massage school.
