ST changes--diagnostic?

How much ST depression is significant/diagnostic for ischemia on EKG? And how about ST elevation?
I've been told 1 mm ST depression in at least 2 contiguous leads is significant, but it's not "diagnostic" until 2mm...??? And that 1mm ST elevation=significant.
This was a discussion at work today---
Thanks for your input
