ruptured chordae tendinae

Does anyone have any information regarding long term effects and/or treatment of ruptured chordae tendinae? I'm aware of the associated problems with valve prolapse & infective endocarditis. I'm curious about other possible damage. I've heard of intravascular hemolysis, which is the result of the whiplash motion caused by the loose ends of the ruptured chordae tendineae. Anyone have any other links, sites, or info. corresponding to this subject? Thanks
