Pre-op meds for CAB patients

I know what these meds are for (class/common use), but we give them as pre-op for our CAB patients. I can't really find anything that pertains to CAB and when I give them to pt's I tell them what they are and what they are used to treat, but can't really say why the doctor wants them to have them the night before and the morning of. So I'm going to list them and any comments would be great!
Beta blocker- day of surgery if not currently on one (does taking 1 make a difference?)
statin- day of if not currently on one (does taking one make a difference?)
pepcid- 40mg night before and 20mg day of
zyloprim-300mg night before and 100mg day of
I kinda understand the BB and statin because more than likely they will continue these. But not understanding the other 2 meds.
Thanks!
